Who is a candidate for Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Spinal Decompression Therapy is specifically designed to eliminate pain associated with spinal disc herniation and rupture, as well as spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet syndrome and failed surgery. If you suffer with chronic or severe low back or neck pain, you may be a candidate for Spinal Decompression Therapy. Spinal Decompression succeeds where many other treatments fall short. Many of the patients we treat have already tried painkillers, physical therapy, chiropractic, or even surgery.
What conditions cannot be treated with Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Not everyone is a candidate for this procedure. Certain conditions cannot be treated with Decompression Therapy. Pain associated with pregnancy, spinal tumors or infection, as well as patients with severe osteoporosis or unstable spinal fractures cannot be treated. This treatment also cannot be used for at least 6 months following certain types of spinal surgery and cannot be used if you have had hardware such as rods or screws surgically implanted in your spine. The doctor will conduct a thorough evaluation, as well as review your case history and MRI’s. He will determine if you qualify for Decompression Therapy.
I haven't had my back pain evaluated by anyone yet, and I have no diagnosis. Do I need to see my PCP first?
There is no need to visit your PCP, and no referral is necessary. We can provide full neurological and orthopedic evaluation, take any necessary x-rays, and order MRI's if needed. An exact diagnosis will be made for your condition, and your treatment options will be explained. If your condition is one that would respond better to physical therapy or surgery, we will make sure that you receive the appropriate referral. If your condition can be treated with non-surgical Spinal Decompression your recovery will be quicker and easier, and we can provide all necessary treatments in the comfort of our office.
What if I have neck pain?
The majority of spinal disc problems occur in the lumbar spine, or the low back. In some cases, however, the joints in the neck can also become damaged. The DTS Spinal Decompression equipment we use in our office can also effectively treat chronic and severe neck pain. We treat neck pain with the same degree of safety, comfort, and success as low back pain.
How long will the treatment take?
The treatment usually takes 30 days to complete. Depending on your condition, the Decompression protocol typically requires 20 half hour sessions over the course of 30 days. Spinal Decompression Therapy can effectively restore and repair damaged spinal structures in a fraction of the time it takes just to recover from spinal surgery. Patients usually do not recover from surgery for at least 6 months, and require extensive physical therapy. Spinal decompression is the quickest and most
efficient
way to eliminate your back pain.
Will I need ongoing treatment?
No. After you complete the therapy you will be instructed to perform certain strengthening exercises at home for a short time. You will also be given helpful tips to help you protect your spine in the future. There is, however, no follow-up care necessary.
Is spinal decompression safe?
Absolutely! Unlike surgery or medication, there are no documented risks or side effects associated with Decompression Therapy. All of the clinical studies have determined that the treatment is completely safe.
Does the treatment hurt?
Not at all! The treatment is completely comfortable. The treatment removes the pressure from pinched spinal nerves which is a welcome relief for anyone in pain. The treatment table is designed to provide the utmost comfort for back pain sufferers.
How is spinal decompression different from traction?
Spinal Decompression is fundamentally different from traction. Traction only stretches the spine and has shown little clinical benefit. Traction can actually damage worn spinal discs. Spinal Decompression is a computerized therapy in which logarithmic forces of negative pressure are applied to the spinal disc, thereby retracting bulging or ruptured disc material. This negative pressure is the key to stopping the pain and allowing the disc to heal.
Is this the same thing as IDD therapy or VaxD therapy?
Because this treatment is still relatively new, there are a variety of terms currently being used to describe non-surgical Spinal Decompression. IDD stand for intervertebral differential dynamics, and VaxD stands for vertebral-axial decompression. These terms all describe Spinal Decompression. After very careful research, our office has selected the DTS table because it offers the newest technology for safely and effectively treating a wide range of spinal disorders.
How much will it cost?
Great news! Spinal Decompression is very affordable . Even if your insurance is limited, easy payment options assure that anyone can easily afford the treatment.
